چکیده

A complementarity framework is described for the modeling of certain classes of mixed continuous/discrete dynamical systems. The use of such a framework is well-known for mechanical systems with inequality constraints, but we give a more general formulation which applies for instance also to switching control systems. The main theoretical results in the paper are concerned with uniqueness of smooth continuations; the solution of this problem requires the construction of a map from the continuous state to the discrete state. A crucial technical tool is the so-called linear complementarity problem (LCP) from mathematical programming; we introduce various generalizations of this problem.

Technical report bds : 00 - 07 Equivalence of hybrid dynamical models ∗

This paper establishes equivalences among five classes of hybrid systems: mixed logical dynamical (MLD) systems, linear complementarity (LC) systems, extended linear complementarity (ELC) systems, piecewise affine (PWA) systems, and maxmin-plus-scaling (MMPS) systems. Some of the equivalences are established under (rather mild) additional assumptions. These results are of paramount importance f...

An interior-point algorithm for $P_{ast}(kappa)$-linear complementarity problem based on a new trigonometric kernel function

In this paper, an interior-point algorithm  for $P_{ast}(kappa)$-Linear Complementarity Problem (LCP) based on a new parametric trigonometric kernel function is proposed. By applying strictly feasible starting point condition and using some simple analysis tools, we prove that our algorithm has $O((1+2kappa)sqrt{n} log nlogfrac{n}{epsilon})$ iteration bound for large-update methods, which coinc...

Generalized linear complementarity problems and the analysis of continuously variable systems and discrete event systems

We present an overview of our research on the use of generalized linear complementarity problems (LCPs) for analysis of continuously variable systems and discrete event systems. We indicate how the Generalized LCP can be used to analyze piecewise-linear resistive electrical circuits. Next we discuss how the Extended LCP can be used to solve some fundamental problems that arise in max-algebraic ...

Modeling And Simulation Semantics For Building Large-Scale Multi-Domain Embedded Systems

This paper discusses a set of semantic constraints that have to be applied for multi-domain modeling of complex, embedded systems. In particular, using the Hybrid Bond Graph (HBG) modeling language, we analyze issues that deal with consistent causality assignments across model reconfigurations using hybrid switching junctions, and the complementarity of the electrical and mechanical domains by ...
